Village Adoption Program
An animal welfare center will be established at village level to provide scientific and other inputs to develop it as a model village. Interventions result in improved productivity, reproductive fitness and reduced mortality/morbidity of the livestock. Also village adoption programme under the “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” programme of ICAR is also implemented in 10 adopted villages and activities are carried out.
Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav
The Directorate of Extension Education has implemented the “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” initiated by ICAR. Under this scheme, two teams of Scientists from Dairy Science College, Amreli and Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry, Himmatnagar have adopted five villages. The activities like farmers meetings, survey, trainings are carried out by teams and reports are sent to the Director, Zone VIII, Pune by the Nodal Officer of the University.
Training Programs
Trainings/Workshops of varying durations are organized for professionals and livestock owners besides conducting seminars for dairy animals, small ruminants (sheep and goat), camel, poultry and fish farmers regularly.
Regional Trainings
The regional training and research centres with well-equipped audio-visual gadgets for effective communication are instrumental in dissemination and transfer of knowledge. Camps/ Melas/ Trainings are regularly conducted for adopting new practices and technologies by the farmers.
Field Outreach Activities
Various extension education activities viz. Animal Welfare Camps, Expert Lectures/Technical guidance/Field days, Animal Husbandry Officers Workshop, Dairy Show, Pashupalan Melas, Regional Pashu Melas, Farmers Advisory Service/Helpline, Livestock Shows, Dog shows are regularly organized. Also TV programmes are telecast and Radio programmes are broadcasted by the scientists of the University for the benefit of the farmers.

“Gaudhuli” Quarterly Magazine
The Directorate of Extension Education regularly publishes a Quarterly Gujarati magazine “Gaudhuli” for farmers’ benefits. The RNI title verification has been done and the five issues are published so far.
Farmers Advisory Service
Telephonic helpline in the Directorate of Extension Education under the motto “Ask Kamdhenu” already planned and executed.
