The College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry was established in the year 2008 with the funding from the Government of Gujarat. It has started functioning from 01-08-2008 (vide Resolution No. JKV-122008-362-K.2, dated 10th June, 2008 of Department of Agriculture and Co-operation, Ministry of Agriculture & Co-operation, Govt. of Gujarat, Gandhinagar) with a mission to provide the quality professionals for holistic development and improvement of animal wealth of the Gujarat state and nation. The College has been accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi for five years up to 2021 and also recognized by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI), New Delhi, since 2008. The college infrastructure was developed on 15,000 sq. mt. area with a total outlay of 13.375 Crore rupees on building construction. The college has a total seventeen departments, five class rooms, one computer lab, one conference hall well equipped with modern audio-visual aids and one air conditioned seminar hall having capacity of more than three hundred persons. The college has a library of more than five thousand books. The UG and PG boys and girl students are provided separate hostel facilities. The intake capacity of UG degree course is 80 students per year. From 2008 to 2019 number of students completed B. V. Sc. and M. V. Sc. /Ph. D. are 425 and 118 respectively. The college is well connected with society by providing ambulatory services in rural areas, organizing various animal health camps and farmers’ training as well as by organizing social activities through NSS.
Library
Full-fledged library was established with sitting capacity of more than 100 students. There are sufficient books available at college library for students published by international and national publishers. More than 1000 back volumes of scientific journals of national and international importance are available in the library. Some of the scientific journals are also subscribed by the library each year. The subject-wise books have been classified and listed.
Computer Lab
Computer Lab was well established and totally air conditioned with sitting capacity of more than 40 students. Computer lab equipped with modern PCs and good power backup facilities loaded with latest educationally useful software was established having high speed internet connectivity with firewall security college where U.G. and P.G. students can access it during office hours of working days.
Hostel
Boys Hostel
Two boys hostel have been provided by the university. One hostel for boys with capacity of 108 students along with dining hall, recreation room, reading hall etc. was completed during 2009-10 and all students were accommodated from academic year 2009-10, in the said hostel named as “GOVARDHAN”. Another boy’s hostel having capacity of 144 students along with other required facilities has been completed during 2012-13 and all students were accommodated from academic year 2012-13. The hostel named as "GOKULESH".
Girls Hostel
All the girl students of different UG and PG programmes are accommodated in university girl’s hostel. Accordingly, girl students seeking admission in the veterinary college are also accommodated in the girl’s hostel having all required facilities.
