About the Department
The Department of Veterinary Anatomy was established since the inception of College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Junagadh in the year 2008. The department is functioning under the administration of it with the objectives to teach anatomy of domestic animals and birds to undergraduate and postgraduate students. To impart training for field veterinarians/ clinicians to refresh their anatomicalknowledge and provide hands on training which can be applied in clinical diagnosis, physical examination and surgical procedures. Toprovide qualified human resource in the field of Veterinary Anatomy, Histology and Embryology. The department progressed steadily by delivering the quality education to under-graduate and post-graduate students. The department extends the expertise to provide the education to students of Diploma in A.H., Junagadh. The modern equipment and other facilities are available in the department. The department is having osteology and arthrology lab., histology and embryology lab., tissue preparation lab., a large dissection hall, educational museum containing sufficient number of specimens and a post graduate research lab. with modern instrumentation facility to work in the field of histology, histochemistry, histoenzymology and immunohistochemistry, scanning electron microscopy. In addition the department developed the various modern techniques for the preparation teaching models such as plastination, corrosion cast and pneumatic dry specimen techniques and prepared many samples by this methods. As the part of academic activities, the department published practical/ laboratory manual for all the course of veterinary anatomy, also published 4 books/ book chapter, one training manuals and many scientific research articles and popular articles.

Sr. No. | Title of Research Programme | Status |
---|---|---|
1 | Histomorphometry & Histochemical observations on theovaries of Jaffrabadi buffaloes in different season of year | Completed |
2 | Study on Postnatal Development of Adrenal Gland in Gohilwadi Goat (Capra hircus). | Completed |
Recommendations (Scientific)
Sr. No. | Recommendations | Year of Approval |
---|---|---|
1 | In Jaffarabadi buffalo, based on biometrical and micrometrical observations, higher functional activities of ovaries are observed in winter season. | 2014-15 |
2 | Adrenal gland of day old Gohilwadi kid has definite cortex and medulla, while adult adrenal exhibits the structures of typical zones of cortex and medulla. Width of definite cortex increases, while that of foetal zone decreases with increasing age. | 2015-16 |
