Intramural Sports Meet
During every academic calendar university organizes the Inter-Polytechnic annual sports meet. The students participate with full enthusiasm and inculcate the virtues of a true sportsman. The students are also encouraged to participate in events like Khelmahakhubh. Sports activities are promoted to improve the overall personality of our students.








National Service Scheme (NSS) Activities
National Service Scheme (NSS) programme was initiated at Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry in 2014 with a sanction strength of 25 volunteers for special camp and 50 for regular activities. Over the years the strength of volunteers increased to 50 in special camp and for regular activities 100 volunteers. Several regular activities and a seven days special camp have been organized by Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry

NSS Special Camp (Year 2024-25)
The NSS Special Camp was organized at Prempara Village, Ta. Visavadar, Dist. Junagadh, by the NSS unit of the Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Kamdhenu University, Junagadh, from March 19th to 25th, 2025. A total of 25 NSS volunteers (17 boys and 08 girls) participated in the camp.
With the motto "Not Me, But You," NSS aims to promote the all-round development of students through activities such as cleanliness drives, educational awareness, village outreach, environmental protection, social and religious work, cultural programs, and sports. The special camp included an animal health camp, bakery training, world sparrow day celebration, social awareness programs, street plays, village cleanliness drive, wildlife awareness, primary school visits, and road safety awareness.
**First Day:**
The NSS special camp was inaugurated in the esteemed presence of Shri Rambhai Sojitra, Sarpanch of Prempara Village; Dr. A. B. Odedara, Program Officer, NSS, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Kamdhenu University, Junagadh; Dr. P. G. Dodiya, Program Officer of the Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry; and other village leaders. The inauguration ceremony commenced with a floral welcome, the traditional lighting of the lamp, and the singing of the “NSS Lakshya Song” by NSS volunteers. Following this, Dr. A. B. Odedara delivered an introductory speech, outlining the concept, motto, and objectives of the NSS special camping program. The distinguished guests also shared their insights on the significance of NSS activities. In observance of World Sparrow Day, NSS volunteers Param Mathur and Heet Vora conducted an awareness session on the importance of sparrows and the urgent need for their conservation. To further promote this cause, sparrow nests were distributed among the villagers of Prempara, encouraging them to contribute to sparrow conservation efforts. At last Dr. P. G. Dodiya proposed vote of thanks to all guests and NSS volunteers.
In the afternoon, a bakery training session was conducted for the women of Prempara village. Kaushikbhai Gohil, an expert from the Bakery School, JAU, Junagadh, provided hands-on demonstrations on the preparation of various bakery products, including cupcakes and biscuits. The village women as well as NSS volunteers actively participated, gaining practical knowledge and skills that would enable them to produce these baked goods independently.
**Second Day:**
A Veterinary Clinical Camp was organized at Prempara village. The camp saw active participation from Dr. D. T. Fefar, Dr. N. R. Padaliya, Dr. A. K. Bilwal, and Dr. D. N. Borkhatariya, along with postgraduate students from clinical departments and undergraduate students from College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Kamdhenu University, Junagadh. A substantial number of sick animals from the surrounding areas were brought in for treatment.
During the camp, a total of twenty-two (22) animals were treated for various medical, surgical, and gynecological conditions. This included twelve (12) medical cases, one (01) surgical case, and nine (09) gynecological cases. Additionally, 150 animals of different age groups were dewormed in Prempara village and Satadhar Gaushala. A total of 172 livestock owners, including those from Satadhar Gaushala, directly benefited from the camp. The livestock of Prempara and Satadhar Gaushala received specialized care from the expert veterinary staff of the college.
In the afternoon, NSS volunteers conducted a pamphlet distribution drive in Prempara village to raise awareness about crucial animal husbandry topics. These included foot and mouth disease, lumpy skin disease, hemorrhagic septicemia, ideal animal husbandry practices, optimal calving intervals, the importance of mineral mixtures, and balanced feeding for lactating animals.
**Third Day:**
An interesting and enlightening wild life awareness program was held on March 22 at Lal Bahadur Shastri School, Prempara to understand the unique world of Gir. Shri Rambhai Sojitra, Sarpanch of the village, Shaileshbhai Parmar (Principal of Lal Bahadur Shashtri School, Prempara) and Villagers of prempara as well as school students and NSS volunteers remained present in the programme. The programme included Gir and its importance, the story of the struggle between human and leopard, king of Gir- asiatic lion, beauty of Gir during monsoon, identification of poisonous and non - poisonous snakes as well as management of snake bite. The entire awareness program was demonstrated by NSS volunteers of the Veterinary College (Parag Tank, Param Mathur and Heet Vora). At the end of the programme, NSS volunteers interacted with school students and played various games with them.
In the afternoon, a poster making competition was held in which NSS volunteers actively participated and prepared posters on topics such as water conservation, save trees, women empowerment, social media problems, swachhata, nasha mukti, gender equality etc.
**Fourth Day:**
The NSS volunteers carried out a cleanliness drive in Prempara village, dividing into groups to clean various locations, including Amrutpara, the panchayat office, the bus stand, the gaushala, Ramji Mandir, the government school, and all the village streets. In addition to cleaning, they also raised awareness about water seepage issues in the village.
In the evening, a street play was organized near Ramji Mandir to spread awareness and educate villagers on important social issues. A total of seven performances were staged by NSS volunteers, addressing topics such as women empowerment, cleanliness awareness, addiction prevention (Nasha Mukti), social media challenges, Sikshit Bharat (Educated India), cyber safety, and other pressing social concerns. To commemorate Shaheed Divas, the volunteers also delivered a patriotic speech and performed a patriotic song in honor of the martyrs.
**Fifth Day:**
A ‘Prabhat Ferry’ was organized where NSS volunteers engaged with the villagers of Prempara through posters and slogans, promoting environmental conservation, health and family welfare, women's empowerment, education, and cyber security.
A team from the Junagadh R.T.O. visited to educate villagers on managing increasing traffic and ensuring road safety. The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Shri Ramabhai Sojitra (Sarpanch of Prempara), Shri Goganbhai Kathiriya (former Sarpanch), and officials from the R.T.O. department, such as H.V. Pandit (R.T.O. Inspector), M.L. Patel (R.T.O. Inspector), and Mr. Prashantbhai (Road Safety Expert). Additionally, Dr. Deendayal (Associate Professor & Head, Dept. of ANN, CoVSAH, KU, Junagadh) and Dr. G.P. Sabapara (Principal, Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry) were present at the event.
Road Safety Expert Mr. Prashantbhai provided insights into traffic rules and road signs, while H.V. Pandit and M.L. Patel discussed road safety measures and accident prevention strategies. In line with the event's theme, Sarpanch Shri Ramabhai delivered a speech emphasizing traffic awareness, and Dr. G.P. Sabapara addressed students on the importance of adhering to road safety norms. Furthermore, Shri Padhiyarbhai (Teacher from Lal Bahadur Shastri School, Prempara) also shared his perspectives on the topic.
**Sixth Day & Closing Ceremony:**
NSS volunteers visited the gobar gas plant and Gaushala at Satadhar Temple, learning about biogas production and its management. The plant supplies gas for cooking at the Satadhar food facility, and leftover dung is used for fertilizer and making incense sticks and dung cakes. The closing ceremony was held in the presence of Satadhar Mahant Shri Vijaybapu, who expressed his views on the importance of volunteers (particularly Veterinarians) in serving the nation and explained the philosophy of living life.
At the conclusion of the camp, Dr. P. G. Dodiya, Program Officer, NSS, congratulated the NSS volunteers for successful completion of the camp and expressed gratitude to Dr. P.H.Tank (Principal, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Kamdhenu University, Junagadh) and Dr. G.P. Sabapara (Principal, Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry, KU, Junagadh) for providing essential guidance, encouragement, and continuous support in organizing the special camp. Additionally, appreciation was extended to Shri Vijaybapu (Satadhar Temple Mahant), Shri Rambhai Sojitra, (Sarpanch of Prempara Village), Shaileshbhai Parmar (Principal of Lal Bahadur Shashtri School, Prempara) for providing continuous support and fulfilling necessary requirements for grand success of this special camp.
