Dairy Technology Department:

• Dairy Technology discipline is dealing with the processing of milk and milk products like Ice cream, cheese, khoa, ghee, milk powder etc including packaging and keeping environment in mind.
• This discipline also covers how by products during the manufacturing is to be processed and utilized. Judging and the sensory of the products is also the part of discipline.

Dairy Chemistry Department

• Dairy Chemistry discipline deals with the components of milk and chemical aspects during processing of milk and milk products including quality assurance.
• It also deals with biochemical aspects and nutritional aspects of milk products to human body.

Dairy Microbiology Department

• Dairy Microbiology discipline deals with the basic microbiological aspects during processing of milk and milk products including quality assurance.
• The subject again emphasizes on the health beneficial bacteria by using them in natural as well as by recombinant methods.

Dairy Engineering Department

• Dairy Engineering Department deals with instrumentation and process control required for automation of basic processes.
• It also deals with the instrumentation and process control required for automation of basic processes.

Experiential Learning

The experiential learning provides a platform to enhance the practical knowledge and also boost confidence level of the students. In this learning process, all sections / departments are covered starting from purchase/receipt of raw materials to the finished product marketing. Students are given training of cleaning, milk processing, product manufacturing, product testing, packaging, maintenance, utilities aspects, account, purchase, marketing etc. During hands-on industrial training and experiential learning, students have to prepare and submit a detailed report on different sections of dairy plants covered during training. Experiential Learning Module of 10 weeks with a credit load of 0+10 credit hours is planned in eighth semester along with the regular courses. The workshop unit with the installation of basic facilities such as HTST homogenization-pasteurization module, milk condensing and spray drying plant, steam jacketed kettle for traditional dairy products manufactures established with the financial assistance from ICAR-National Agricultural Higher Education Project.

As such no ELP unit is sanctioned by the ICAR for this college.

ICT enabled Classrooms

Four State of Art, All-In-One Smart Classrooms having area of more than 100 m2 for each classroom with Modern style smart teaching system through finger touch enabled interactive panel, full audio-video system to empower the students are available in the college. The system in Smart digital podium facility is a fusion of verbal and visual teaching methodology and the true interaction that leaves indelible impressions on student’s mind frames which also turns on the positive mind with full alertness. The said classrooms are also provided with LCD projector of high lumens capacity and also with required internet facility. ICT enabling of classroom was done with the financial assistance of ICAR-National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP).

Computer Laboratory

College of Dairy Science, Amreli is having 40 computers with internet connectivity and equipped with recent digital technologies as mentioned below.

• Digital Language Lab: This is a state of art language learning system where in students improves their skills like listening, speaking, reading and writing of language along with self-learning audiovisual aids.
• Dynamic Learning with MOODLE: A robust platform for e-learning. The e-courses developed by ICAR has been made available on the college website for the easy access and the same contains the self-learning plug-in for assignments, quizzes etc.
• Bioinformatics Lab: The college e-learning center is provided with very sophisticated research software and tools like MATLAB for arithmetical figuring, CLC Sequence and bioinformatics analysis of Genomics and other proficient software like design expert, SPSS, End-note etc., to strengthen and enable the research scholars.
• Virtual Class Room: For the better exposure of college students to the global experts through simulated ICT enabled classroom with audio video support has been made in our e-learning center.

Digital Library

The library was started with the establishment of College in 2010. Library of college is located in the main college building on ground and is under the control of Assistant librarian. Currently library has variety of reference and text books to meet the requirements of the students of the college. Books related to various competitive examinations viz., central and state government jobs, GRE, TOEFEL, ICAR and other state agricultural universities entrance examination etc. are available in library. Few journals, periodicals, general magazines and newspapers are also available in the library.

College has transformed the traditional library to automated digital Library using RFID System for Self-check in/checkout and scanning searching function and fully IT Infrastructure enabled “Cybrary”. Self-operation of fully Digitalized library using OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) integrates with Koha Software. Various digital educational resources like NDL-National Digital Library, Krishikosh, J-Gate, Sodh Ganga etc are made available by own Web based Library Management Software (Koha). Numbers of books, journals, general magazines, e-books, CD/DVD, Back Volume Journals in hard copy available, are listed in table.

About 160 student and 23 staff members are the users of the library. Books are borrowed by the readers for home reading. Facility has been made available to the students for photocopying of technical and informative documents for academic purpose at an affordable cost.

Timing for college library is from 10.30 am to 6.15 pm from Monday to Saturday.

Currently, 10 computers with internet facility are available at the library for the students. Entire college campus is Wi-Fi enabled with speed of 10 Mbps which can be used by the students at any time.

Conference Room

It is equipped with digitally atomized audio system, interactive Panel, on/off/dimming of lights, curtains and Federal air conditioning controlling by easy face intelligent software. The conference room has elegant Design, 24 super cardioids microphones and cloud based video conferencing platform with sophisticated single touch Interactive infra-red sensor technology. Absolute presentation is controlled with Quartet system and the main Screen is shared with four high resolution displays. It is also having vivid and convincing presentation tools with pop box, Dazzling, incredible crystal clear full HD interactive Panel.

Auditorium

It is kind of miniplex cirque i.e. One stop genuine solution for entire range of requirements, connected with omni directional range wireless microphones with robust audio system. The facilities for streaming of video conferencing data over cloud at high resolution on dual overhead projector are available. It is also having modish setting arrangement confederated air conditioning.

College has also developed Learning and Management System(LMS) using open software called “MOODLE”. Presently we have uploaded the e-content developed by ICAR NAIP project “E-course for B. Tech. (D.T.)” content. Students have been given id and password individually. They can access this online material through the college computers as well as through their mobiles using intranet. Faculty is encouraged to develop e-content for this LMS, and update the content uploaded on MOODLE. We are further planning to add additional features to LMS such as text Message service to student/their parents and to conduct online examinations through MOODLE, so as get the students accustomed to online examination pattern of various competitive examinations

College of Dairy Science, Kamdhenu University, Amreli is having Ramp facility, Separate Toilet block facility, Wheel Chair facility and Hydraulic Elevator for differently abled.

Sports and Recreation Facilities for Boys

College of Dairy Science, Kamdhenu University, Amreli having the facility of sports activities in college include cricket, volleyball, kabbadi, table tennis, basket ball, badminton, javelin throw, discus throw, shot-put throw, high jump, long jump, running etc. Gym facilities have also been made available for the boys students at college with advanced and professional Gym equipments as well as in the hostel.
