With the objective of provision of continuous technological and human resource support to the dynamically growing livestock sector, a three year diploma course “Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry” was established in the year 2011 at Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University (SDAU), Sardarkrushinagar, Banaskantha, Gujarat. As per Notification of Department of Agriculture and Co-operation, Government of Gujarat Notification No.: GH/KH/43/2021/PRCH/102019/1852/K-2, Date: 05-04-2021, Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry was transferred from SDAU, Sardarkrushinagar to Kamdhenu University (KU), Gandhinagar and is under the control of Principal, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Kamdhenu University, Sardarkrushinagar. It was an up gradation of one year livestock inspector course. Medium of instruction is English and is also one of the compulsory subject in SSC for admission. As per the resolution of the Registrar, Kamdhenu University, Gandhinagar, (જા. નં. કાયુ/રજી/યુ-૧/વહટ/૪૨૧૫/૨૦૨૪, તા. ૩૦.૦૭.૨૦૨૪) all the academic and other activities of Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry, KU, Sardarkrushinagar was shifted to Dr. V. M. Jhala Clinical Complex, Deesa under the control of College of Veterinary Science & A.H., KU, Sardarkrushinagar with effect from 01-08-2024 and at present the Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry is functioning at Dr. V. M. Jhala Clinical Complex, Deesa. Vision of Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry, KU, Deesa is to produce distinct livestock inspectors to support and help the veterinarians for animal health care and management of livestock, to carry out minor veterinary services and thus contribute towards the development of animal husbandry and dairy sector.
